Mrs. Armand graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She has a BS in Physical Education and a minor in English. She was a member on the NSU Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Teams where she was named Southland Conference All-Academic. In addition to her twelve years of teaching and coaching experience, Mrs. Armand is certified in personal fitness from the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. Her most recent experience came from Trinity Christian Academy where she was the Head Cross Country Coach and Head Girls’ Track and Field Coach. Mrs. Armand and her husband Keith have two children who both attend POPCS.
Ms. Bertocci, a.k.a. "Coach B", has taught Physical Education at POPCS since 1997. She received her Bachelor’s in Education from Washington State University and is currently working on her Master's Degree at Texas Women's University.
Ms. Bertocci incorporates current brain development research into the preschool and kindergarten movement program, but don't let the kids know that; they think movement with the wild and wacky Coach B is FUN!! Ms. Bertocci also coaches both the Middle School and High School swim teams.
Although Ms. Bertocci grew up hiking and camping in the mountains near Seattle, Washington, she is proud to say that her two children are "native Texans". Ms. Bertocci shares her love of the outdoors with others by volunteering as an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America. She also teaches First Aid, CPR and Wilderness First Aid.
Mrs. Blackwell holds a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree in Physical Education with a certification in Special Education from Auburn University. She has more than twenty years of teaching experience. She has taught elementary, middle school and high school Physical Education, Health Occupations, and a variety of other adult education classes. She served as the Health Educator for Williamsburg Community Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, Director of Sports, Fitness and Aquatic programs for the YMCA of Washington DC, and is a certified personal trainer. Currently, Mrs. Blackwell serves as the head coach of the middle school Cross Country and Track teams at Prince of Peace.
When not teaching or coaching, Karen enjoys hiking, gardening and swimming with her family.
Mrs. Canto was born and raised in Mexico City and graduated from the University of Las Americas with a BA in Art and History. She came to Dallas in 1984 where she met her husband Silvio, who is from Cuba.
Her introduction to Prince of Peace came as she was choosing a school for her three children. She started working at Prince of Peace in 1993 as a Preschool aide and remained in that position for five years. She feels it is very important that children learn another language. In 1998 she was given the opportunity to share her love of the Spanish language at Prince of Peace. Mrs. Canto teaches Spanish to students in 1st - 5th grades.
The Canto family is very active in sports and in their Church, St Catherine of Sienna. Her two sons attend Texas A&M.
Mrs. Judy Ervien graduated from California State University at Long Beach with a BA. She also earned a certification in College Counseling from UCLA.
Mrs. Ervien has worked in public and private education for over 28 years. She has taught at all grade levels in a variety of subjects, as well as served as a College Counselor and as Admissions Director. She is currently the High School Librarian at Prince of Peace.
Mrs. Ervien has been married to her husband Bob for over twenty-nine year and have two children, Susan (26) and Matthew (24). At her church, she serves on the Leadership Team for the Women’s Ministry and has been involved in Women’s Ministries for many years.
With over 27 years of Christian Education Experience, Earl Garland joins Prince of Peace Christian School’s staff as the Athletic Director. Before joining the Prince of Peace family, he served as Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Head of School at Northeast Christian Academy for eight years. Coach Garland has had coaching success in several sports, but most notably in basketball, where he has been a part of five state championships.
Coach Garland looks forward to building upon the Athletic Program to allow POPCS to compete at the highest level, to seek to honor our Lord, and to be His beacon to our surrounding community.
Mrs. Griffin attended Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas, and graduated in 1986 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Griffin taught for three years at Zion Lutheran in Georgetown, Texas, before coming to Prince of Peace in 1989. Mrs. Griffin taught 6th grade for two years and 4th grade for nine years. In 1997, she completed her Master’s Degree in Reading at the University of North Texas. After completing the 1999-2000 school term, Mrs. Griffin chose to be a stay-at-home mom to her twins, Shelby and Seth, whom they adopted from Russia in February 2001. Prince of Peace was delighted to welcome her back in 2002 as a first grade teacher.
She taught first grade for five years. In 2007, Mrs. Griffin became the Elementary School/Middle School Librarian. As the librarian she has enjoyed teaching from a different perspective. Mrs. Griffin has story time with Preschool - Kindergarten students. She works with students helping them select books of interest. Because Grade 2 - 8 students participate in Accelerated Reader program, either by points or extra credit incentives, she continues to add these types of books. Mrs. Griffin also organizes two major Book Fairs a year for the entire school.
Mrs. Griffin loves music, frogs, and the color green. Mrs. Griffin and her husband Shannon live in Carrollton with their twins and attend Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Coach Henke joined the Prince of Peace staff at the beginning of the 2001 school year. He serves as the Middle School Athletic Director and teaches some of the P.E. courses. He came to POPCS after teaching and coaching in a Lutheran School in Houston for two years.
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Coach Henke completed high school at Lutheran High North in Houston. Following graduation, he attended Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin for one year, transferring to Concordia, Austin, where he completed his degree.
Coach Henke is married to Heidi, a high school teacher at POPCS, and they have three daughters, Kaley, Karli and Payton. His interests are basketball, baseball, golf, soccer, and any other sports!
Mrs. Hurt attended University of Texas at Permian Basin and received her Bachelor of Arts in Counseling and Psychology. She worked on her Masters at Stanford and Harvard and completed her education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas earning a Masters in Psychology/Sociology. She received Gesell training in l999 and does admissions testing for incoming Prince of Peace students.
Mrs. Hurt worked in the psychiatric wing of Children's Hospital as a Milieu Therapist, specializing in autistic children. In 1994 Mrs. Hurt began substitute teaching at Prince of Peace and found her second career. She began teaching Kindergarten in 1998. In 2005 she became part-time Guidance Counselor in the High School, and in 2006 left Kindergarten to become the full-time high school Guidance Counselor. Mrs. Hurt works with students individually on the college planning and application process as well as on course planning in high school. She has developed individual college planners for every high school student and meets individually with each student throughout the year.
Mrs. Hurt is married and has two sons. Robby is currently doing Residency training, and Ben, a former Prince of Peace student, is Marketing Coordinator for the Cox School of Business at SMU. They are members of St. Rita's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Lawson has been a part of Prince of Peace since 2001. She taught Preschool for four years prior to moving to the elementary computer lab. Mrs. Lawson is excited about the opportunity to use her skills as a former computer programmer to help KP - 5th grade students recognize the important role computers play in their everyday lives. The possibilities are limitless when students combine their God-given talents with the power of the computer.
According to Mrs. Lawson, “The computers in the lab at Prince of Peace are an incredible blessing. Our students are able to use the skills they learn here for their homework, entertainment, and as a foundation for the technological advances that are to come.”
Mrs. Lawson and her family attend Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton.
Mr. Matthews joined Prince of Peace as the lower school music teacher in the fall of 2007. In the 2008-2009 school year, he became the school's Director of Fine Arts while continuing to teach lower school music.
Before coming to Prince of Peace, he was the Fine Arts Chairman and taught all-levels of music, choir and praise band at St. Alban's Episcopal School in Arlington. After teaching many years at St. Alban's, the school closed, but God immediately opened the door for Mr. Matthews to join the staff at Prince of Peace.
Mr. Matthews, a native of Fort Worth, graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Music degree and continued his studies in church music at Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He has been involved in church music ministry all of his life.
Mr. Matthews is married to Janis, who is an Arlington ISD teacher. They live in Arlington and are members of Woods Chapel Baptist Church. They have three daughters Julie, Kimberly and Sarah Kay. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews love being Nana and Papa to Jessalyn, Griffin and Connor.
Mrs. Pevehouse was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up as a very proud Air Force Brat. She had the incredible opportunity of traveling all over the world, living in 17 different states, Canada and our nation’s capital. She landed in Texas during her senior year of high school and graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, with a BS in Education. Mrs. Pevehouse began her teaching career in Channelview (a suburb of Houston) and spent time teaching in Plano, Coppell and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, before leaving public schools after 27 years of teaching in May 2008. Her teaching experience covers all elementary levels, with most of her years spent in 4th and 5th grades. She received her Texas Gifted Certification in 1992, and has cherished the challenges of working with academically and artistically gifted children. Mrs. Pevehouse is blessed to have the opportunity to be the new WINGS teacher at POPCS.
Mrs. Pevehouse is married to Doug Pevehouse. They have raised two amazing sons, Jeff and Patrick. Jeff has followed in his dad’s footsteps; he also teaches U.S. History and coaches football at Argyle High School. Patrick is a senior at Oklahoma City University, majoring in Musical Theatre. Listening to Patrick sing or watching him perform are two of their greatest joys. They are also blessed to be “Bear” and “Bunny” to Caden, their precious grandson.
The Pevehouses are active members of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch. They have been adult leaders in the Youth and College Age Young Adult Programs for several years, and also serve on the Administrative Board of CUMC.
When Mrs. Pevehouse is by herself, her favorite thing to do is read. She loves to be immersed in a good book, and can read for hours at a time if she is allowed that luxury! As a family, the Pevehouses love sports and live theatre – especially musicals. Their favorite music to listen to is Contemporary Christian music and Broadway Show Tunes……they can sing along with the best of them!
Mr. Riske graduated from Concordia, River Forest in Illinois and received his Masters in Teaching from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan in 1970.
He serves part-time as Prince of Peace Christian School’s Lower School Chaplain.
He has given over 45 years of service to Lutheran Schools, both as teacher and administrator. He has taught 1 – 8 grades, served as a Youth Minister for over twenty years, and been an administrator at four different Lutheran schools in Texas.
Mr. Riske is married to Donna, also a Concordia- River Forest graduate. They are the proud parents of four daughters and eleven wonderful grandchildren.
Theresa Woodall earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Southern California (USC). She worked for several years in banking before staying home to raise her children Ashleigh (POPCS Class of 2008), Katie and Billy (current POPCS students). Theresa served as a volunteer and substitute teacher at POPCS for many years before joining the staff as Associate Athletic Director.
Theresa is a sports fan and supports her favorite teams the POPCS Eagles, OU Sooners and USC Trojans with husband, Mark. She enjoys coaching volleyball at the middle school level in both fall and spring seasons. Theresa performed in the Opening & Closing Ceremonies of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics as part of the Olympic Marching Band and has coached Tall Flags and Drill Team at the high school level. She has brought this expertise to the POPCS Eaglettes Drill Team which is now in its second year.
In her spare time, Theresa is the unofficial photographer for the Eagles and her work can be seen in the scrapbooks of many senior athletes.

Mrs. Warneke, has been in the classroom since 1993, and has taught Kindergarten, First, Fourth, Seventh, and Eighth grades. She is also a Certified Academic Language Therapist and has a private dyslexia remediation practice outside of her teaching duties at POPCS. Mrs. Warneke strives to provide a variety of teaching techniques to help her students learn to the best of their ability. She believes every child can learn, improve and succeed! She is excited to be working in the . She and her husband Kevin are blessed to have three children, all of whom have attended POPCS.
